Sassi Chamberlain Architects has been involved in a number of research projects primarily relating to sustainable materials and construction, but also investigating the attitudes and ethical aspects of addressing sustainability and its challenges. Projects include:

 

   

Research into design to close the material resource loop, including research into deconstruction, recycling, reuse and biodegradable materials.

Guidance on design for closed loop material cycles.

 

   
Research into recycled materials and their use in buildings.
 
European Union CRAFT funded research project into uses of cardboard tubes in construction. An experimental cardboard tube structure was erected at the University of Nottingham.
